Padel SA are the Pioneers of Padel in South Africa, having been the first registered padel business in the country. We imported the first rackets into the country back in 2019 and not long after opened South Africa’s first padel store. 

Padel SA consists of two partners; Noemi Llompart Gutierrez, a Spanish citizen from the beautiful (and padel crazy) island of Mallorca. She and her family are avid players, especially her mother who has even entered into local completions on the island. Growing up in a family that would play padel weekly instilled her love for the sport, and brought the family closer together due to the social aspects of the game.

Steven Cox is a South African whose love of sports led him to study for a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management and Marketing. He met Noemi whilst they were both living in Thailand, and a year later went over to visit her in Mallorca, Spain. He inevitably went on the regular padel outing with Noemi’s family and was in utter awe of what he had just stumbled upon. He was hooked from his very first shot, and immediately went straight onto Google to find out if and where the game was played in South Africa… it wasn’t! Not a signal website or social media post existed about the game. For a sports-mad nation such as South Africa, it just didn’t make sense to him that one of the world’s most enjoyable and accessible sports didn’t exist in his country.

He and Noemi then decided to move to South Africa with the goal of starting not just the sport of padel but the industry that would inevitably follow.
